9 January 2024 — Private equity firm NewSpace Capital has announced the appointment of seasoned executive Anne Canel as independent director to the board. Anne brings more than 25 years of experience across private equity, corporate finance, advisory and sustainable development, and will support NewSpace in its work investing in growth-stage companies across the space technology ecosystem.

Anne Canel, a graduate from Sciences Po in Paris and the French national military academy at Saint Cyr, holds a number of independent director roles, including at banks, insurance firms, and PE actors in clean energy and industrial technology. Anne’s current roles include non-executive board member at Banque ING Luxembourg as well as Private Equity funds and family holdings. Anne is a qualified chartered accountant, certified in risk management from ICHEC Brussels and leadership from MIT.

NewSpace Capital, which backs founders and entrepreneurs across the space supply chain and downstream applications, counts a number of space tech leaders among its portfolio companies. Its team, which has over 150 years of collective industry experience across space tech and finance, focuses on areas such as the building and manufacture of components, broadcasting and telecommunication, earth observation, and navigation.
